This Saturday the 19th is the 1st PorkChoppd Shop ride Anyone who wants to ride from the shop over to Sedgwick Co. Park for a nice ride through the area and back. We will be leaving from the shop around 5:00 pm There is parking there also. After the ride PorkChoppd will be throwing down Brauts, Hots and drinks for all.

PorkChoppd is located at 7603 W. 21st. Street North, Suite 105. Wichita , KS.

Bike Tours - May 19th

Bike Tours Return to Downtown.
In celebration of bike month, the Wichita Downtown Development Corp. has again organized the I Bike Douglas Rides. Three themed tours will be offered on May 19th, each lasting approximately 45 minutes.

The Architectural Ride departs at 1 p.m. from WDDC’s office at 507 E. Douglas. This tour will take an in depth look at some of the architectural treasures strewn along Douglas. From sleek modern designs to art deco influences, to ornately carved limestone treasures, Downtown Wichita offers numerous examples of the city’s architectural heritage. Come prepared to learn some fascinating facts about Wichita’s architectural gems.

The Heroes Ride will depart from in front of the Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview, 400 W. Douglas at 2 p.m. This ride in honor of Armed Services Day will feature stops at various sculptures and memorials throughout the core area dedicated to heroes. We’ll visit the Keeper of the Plains, the beloved Indian Warrior that watches over Wichita, and Veteran Memorial Park, the serene little park located along the Arkansas River that houses numerous monuments. The tour will also include stops by the Old County Courthouse’s Soldiers & Sailors Monument and the Law Enforcement Memorial by local artist Connie Ernatt at City Hall.

The Victorian Ride will depart at 3 p.m. from Sedgwick-County Historical Museum, 204 S. Main, and will focus on the elaborate and ornate structures that stand as graceful reminders of Wichita’s past including the Historical Museum and its stately neighbor, the recently renovated Carnegie Library.
The day will end with tours inside two Victorian homes, including one of Wichita’s most historic, the Schnitzler Mansion at Gilbert and South Broadway.

These rides are designed to be leisurely and all ages are welcome. Cameras are allowed and encouraged, as there will be ample opportunity to capture some unique and memorable photographs. All rides are free, but donations are appreciated.
Mark your calendar for the morning of June 23rd, when I Bike Douglas will offer a new round of tours during the cooler morning hours.

I'd like to ask that participants please not wear clipless type cycling shoes on the house tours. Thanks in advance.

Riding For Ruth

A really good turn out at Sunday's Ride For Ruth. Fiends and family shared hugs, laughs, tears, food and a bike ride to show their love and support for Ruth. We also raised a nice amount of funds that will hopefully help Ruth and her family through this difficult and costly time. Not only are the Coasters a fun bunch, but also caring, compassionate and giving.

Thanks to Dave W, Lora and the Shamrock Lounge for hosting this event. Also thanks to Billy and Darren for the auction bikes, Mitch and the Midwest Bicycle Swapmeet for their donations and to everyone who participated and gave in one way or another.

Ruth our thoughts and prayers are with you.

There is no better way to get around to the galleries than by riding a bike! We will gather at the Old Town Farm and Art Market Square on Friday, May 25th at 6pm, and will ride off at 6:30pm. We will ride to various arts districts including Old Town, Gallery XII and its neighbors, Commerce Street and possibly Delano and Downtown. Lights are required for riding after dark. Suitable for all ages and types of bicycles.

45 total vendors. This was the biggest year yet. I truly appreciate everyone that participated, not just the Swap but also the pre-swap garage ride. Thanks to Bill with Accent Mobile Music for providing the PA and the tunes all day, and Thanks to Zach and Caryn for handling the Grilling duties, and thanks to everyone that helped me load up at the end of the day. A beautiful evening and a big turn out for the 2nd annual Pre-Swap Garage Ride Saturday night. 41 riders rode around the town of Haysville stopping off at 3 of the locals garages to look and talk bikes, eat and drink refreshments. Thanks to those who opened their garages to us and to their wives for the great snacks.
