A few Coasters attended the Tour De Fat in Ft Collins, Colorado over the weekend. An estimated 15,000 other cyclists joined them. Photos and videos of the event here.
Just a reminder that you can purchase a wide variety of stylin' cruising apparel from our Cruising Apparel page. Many different shirt styles, colors and prints available.
With so many upcoming events now might be a good time to purchase a Coasters shirt to show your affiliation with the coolest bike club around.
Dr. Edward N. Tihen read and took notes from nearly every issue of Wichita's newspapers dating from 1872 to 1982. Dr. Tihen's notes reflect the people, places and events that have shaped Wichita's history.
What follows are bicycle related excerpts from Dr. Edward N. Tihen notes.
The Broadview Hotel is a Wichita landmark and as we learned last night, an interesting and colorful part of Wichita's history. Thank you to Trisha (aka The Flapper) for last nights tour for the Thursday night bike bunch. It was both informative and entertaining.
Please support this grand old hotel in anyway you can whether it be purchasing a drink at the bar or a room for the night. We wish the Broadview good luck in it's future historic renovations.
I didn't get any decent photos last night but here's what I did take. If you have any photo's you'd like to share please send them to me.
Last night we had a new couple join us. Adam and Sarah came all the way from Seattle to ride Wichita's Thursday Night Pub Pedal. Well ok maybe they had another reason to be here in town but while here they bought a couple of bikes at a thrift store and spent the evening riding and swapping bike stories with us. How cool is that?!
We now have proof that Seattle is not just a mythical place where no one drives cars, bikes grow on trees and everyone is a bicycle messenger by trade and plays bicycle polo on their days off. They were drinking something other than espresso so that myth is busted.
Funny story on the little bike they purchased. A couple of Coasters recognized it from an estate sale. Must not have sold and ended up at the DAV.
Thanks for joining us Adam and Sarah. Hope you had a nice time and get your monies worth out of your bikes.
This evening I spotted 2 of the give-away bikes being ridden down the sidewalk. I knew they were the bikes because one w
as the boys and the other the girls and the girls still had streamers. Nice to know they are getting use.
I'm sure that's fine. They'll also need help loading bikes into trucks. I had forgot to post that they are also assembli
ng bikes on Sunday beginning at 1:00pm. I just updated the post.
