Delano Block Party - Thursday, August 11th 6:00pm.
Celebrate the installation of Delano's new bicycle racks.
Meet at the the clock tower/round-a-bout on Douglas at 6:00pm for the ribbon cutting ceremony. From there we'll ride to Douglas and Vine (Shamrock) where there will be food, games, music and more.

Fun times today at the first Pedal Mania. Pedal Mania is the Historic Delano District's contribution to the Wichita River Festival. The Coasters put on a bike display, hosted a kids parade and games like the Disgruntled Paperboy Throw, the Tube Toss and Bicycle Bowling.
Not a lot of participants in the Kids Parade but we made the best of it. The other events I think went pretty well. A steady flow of people passing through, checking out the bikes and participating in the games.
Thanks to all the Coasters who came out and made this first time event a success. A special BIG thanks to those who ran games and/or provided prizes and fetched newspapers all day. I think we did a pretty good job. Thanks to historic Delano for inviting us.

Calling all Coasters!...
We need Coasters to bring their custom and classic bikes to this event for the Bike Show & Tell. We'll also need volunteers to help with the Kids Parade and to run a couple of games. We could also use some swag to give away as prizes.

Tuesday the Wichita City Council will hear about a proposal to add bicycle parking to the city's Delano neighborhood.

Under the plan 135 bike racks would go in an area around west Douglas between Vine and McLean and around Lawrence Dumont Stadium. It's part of the Delano Neighborhood Revitilization Plan and and effort to make the area more bicycle friendly.

Under the plan the racks would be installed in phases to offset the $72,000 cost. While city funding is being sought, the plan also would like to seek private contributions toward the project.

Tuesday's resolution would not obligate the city to spend any money toward the project just yet. Click here for a link to the city's website to see the entire project proposal.

The Wichita City Council approves a plan to add bicycle parking to the Delano neighborhood.

The plan would put in 135 specially designed bike racks in the business area around west Douglas and Lawrence Dumont Stadium.

Council members also approved allocating funds for the first phase of the project, which would be 24 racks. Private funding will also be sought toward the project.

Today the Coasters rode in the historic Delano District's 5th annual St Patrick's Day Parade. What a great day for a parade! Thanks to everyone who participated. Fun times!

Thanks to those who braved the cold and the wind to participate in this year's Historic Delano Christmas Parade. Also thanks to the organizers of the parade for inviting us once again. Police estimate for the parade was at
1,000 spectaters and there were 300 people in the parade. It was a great time as always. Following the parade was a short pub pedal and dinner.
