Other than maybe some landscaping and lighting the extension to the Canal path is done. The new section begins where the path had previously ended at 17th and the Canal Route and continues N/E to meet with the K-96 path at Grove park.
Great turnout for the Coasters first "Canal Cruise". I think there was around 35 riders. We started at the Donut Whole where a wide variety of tasty donuts were consumed. We then rode along Wichita's Canal bike path for a total of about 7 miles. The temperature was in the mid 80s and a extremely strong wind out of the South. Once back to the Donut Whole we all agreed not to do the additional 5 miles I suppose mostly due to the horrendous wind. It was a nice ride despite the wind. Thanks to everyone who came out! Hope you enjoyed it. We'll do this again on a different path.
P.S. I didn't realize it till we returned but I think we might have lost a couple of riders?
Augusta city leaders have agreed to pursue ownership of 5.5 miles of abandoned Frisco railroad right-of-way between the Whitewater River and Meadowlark Road.
Officer Steve Jerrell was walking along the bike path next to the Little Arkansas River when he came to an abrupt halt.

This evening I spotted 2 of the give-away bikes being ridden down the sidewalk. I knew they were the bikes because one w
as the boys and the other the girls and the girls still had streamers. Nice to know they are getting use.
